Gasification

Gasification is the process of converting biomass into combustible gases (carbon monoxide, methane and hydrogen) that ideally contain all the energy originally present in the biomass feedstock.

In practice energy conversion efficiencies lie between 60% and 90%.

Gasification is achieved by thermally degrading organic materials in the absence of adequate air to support full combustion
